 | | 5 / 8 Is seafood safe?
You should avoid eating shark, swordfish, king mackerel or tilefish because they contain high levels of mercury.
But in general, it's okay to eat up to 2 to 3 meals (or 12 ounces) of fish and shellfish a week. Make sure they're fully cooked. Low-mercury choices include shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish. Do consume a mix of seafood and refrain from eating the same type of fish or shellfish more than once a week.
