| | 9 / 11 9. Floss daily
We all know daily flossing is important to our dental health, but cleaning between your teeth does more than getting rid of the bacteria-laden plaque that causes gum disease -- studies also suggest a link between gum disease and heart disease.
Experts believe that the oral bacteria that cause gum disease can enter the bloodstream and trigger body-wide inflammatory response which can lead to heart disease, stroke, and premature births.
Because the bacteria hide between the teeth and gums, brush at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and floss daily to reach into those spaces.
