 | | 4 / 7 Make it healthier: Eggs and dairy
Eggs are a good source of protein, plus they contain important nutrients in both the yolk and the white. One egg a day is safe for healthy adults, according to the American Heart Association.
"Milk and other dairy foods like yogurt and cheese are an excellent source of high-quality protein, which helps prevent between-meal hunger," says Sandra L. Woodruff, registered dietician and author of Secrets Of Good-Carb/Low-Carb Living. In addition, they're also rich in calcium, which is needed for strong bones and helps protect against osteoporosis. You'll save the extra calories from fat by choosing low-fat products over the regular versions. Aim for two to three servings of dairy products per day, adds Woodruff.
