Steaming

Facial steaming effectively opens up the pores and triggers the sweat glands to flush out toxins and dirt for deep-pore cleansing.

The steam machine mists your face with hot steam to soften the skin and draw dirt to the surface for easier extractions. Steaming typically takes around 5 to 10 minutes, and should feel relaxing, not uncomfortably warm.

Extractions

The facialist uses clean hands and a blackhead extractor to remove comedones that are clogging the pores. Firm pressure is applied uniformly around the blackhead or whitehead to release the plug from the pores.

Extraction requires skilled techniques as well as an eye for which lesion to extract and which to leave alone. Some pimples should never be extracted and may cause scarring if forcefully squeezed out! If you are worried about scarring, instruct your facialist not to attempt any extraction on the pimple.

Extractions can be painful, but they should not leave red, swollen marks even after a heavy extraction. It is normal, however, to experience temporary redness or a small scab precisely where an extraction took place.
