Cross-cradle hold
This position is similar to the cradle hold, but you support the baby with the arm oppposite the breast you're feeding from -- if you're nursing from your right breast, use your left arm and hand to hold him.
How-to: Sit upright in a comfortable chair with armrests and support the baby's trunk and head with your forearm and hand, such that he is directly facing you. Place your other hand beneath your breast in a U-shaped hold to guide your baby's mouth to your breast.
Best for: Newborns and small babies who have trouble latching on. | |
