4. Soft drinks
The acidity of soft drinks and sodas promotes staining by eroding the dental enamel, temporarily softening teeth and making it easier for chromogens to attach to the tooth surface. As you might imagine, the chromogen-rich colas are the biggest offenders, but even light-colored sodas and sports drinks that are acidic enough can make you susceptible to staining by other foods and beverages.
Minimize staining: Using a straw for your cola and iced drinks can limit the contact between the beverage and your teeth.
