Breastfeeding for working mothers
The first 4 weeks should be dedicated to exclusive breastfeeding, but after that, you can start to express and store your breast milk. The caregiver can then give it to your baby while you are away. In this way, your baby can still continue receiving breast milk and you can still keep up with your milk production. You can express your milk either by hand or using a breast pump which can purchased easily. Begin by expressing once a day before gradually increasing the frequency according to the number of feeds which your baby will miss while you are at work.
You should express your milk during work breaks. You then give it to your baby the next day when you are not at home. Meanwhile, continue with direct breastfeeding when you are with your baby.
