2. Sports Drinks.
Sports drinks are marketed as an isotonic beverage ideal for rehydrating and refuelling the body. They help to replace fluid loss, especially after heavy exercise while the electrolytes in the drinks (such as sodium and potassium) replenish those that are lost with sweat.- Where's the Sin: Unfortunately, many of these sports drinks are loaded with sugar (look out for sucrose, glucose and fructose in the ingredient list), artificial flavorings and colorings.
The salt content (sodium and potassium) in the drinks help replenish electrolytes which may be lost from perspiration after a sweaty workout, making it more suitable for after-sports than as casual beverages. - Alternatives: Try unsweetened juices made from fresh fruit, diluted with iced water.
