Orthorexia nervosa is a term coined by Steven Bratman, M.D., author of Health Food Junkies: Orthorexia Nervosa, who first described the condition, and is derived from the Greek "orthos" meaning correct or straight, and "orexis" meaning appetite. It is characterized by a nutritional obsession with eating healthy to the extreme.
