Trade it for: Low-fat graham crackers, fig bars and ginger snaps
Commercial baked goods like cookies are the source of most of our trans fat intake, says registered dietician Candace Combe. "Ounce for ounce, chocolate chip cookies take the cake when it comes to excess fat and calories."
You can substitute cookies with reduced-fat or fat-free cookies like graham crackers, fig bars or ginger snaps. "Fortunately, there are several brands that don't use hydrogenated oils," adds Combe. Making a healthy choice is as simple as doing a comparison of the food labels.
