| | 10 / 11 10. It is possible to become pregnant while still breastfeeding your child
While ovulation is unlikely to happen while you are exclusively breastfeeding your baby, like any other type of contraceptive, it is not foolproof. Eventually your menstrual cycle will return and you may ovulate without knowing it, which means there's a chance that you could become pregnant. Also, once your baby stops exclusively breastfeeding, it becomes less effective as a method of contraception, so you may want to use another method to be on the safe side.
