5. Have your baby before 30, if you have a choice
Women who have had a full-term pregnancy or have their first child before age 30 have a lower risk of breast cancer compared to women who gave birth after age 30. The risk is also lower for women who have many pregnancies. Pregnancy reduces a woman's total number of lifetime menstrual cycles, which experts believe may be the reason for the protective effect.
