Preventing Accidental Poisoning
- Medication
One man's medication is another's poison. If a medication is used wrongly or in the wrong amounts, it can be dangerous.
Prevention Tips:
To prevent the young ones from swallowing medication by mistake, make sure you put away medications in high places after use, away from the reach of young children.
Never allow children to play with medicines. Some medicines (such as those in colorful tablets or capsules) resemble candies and the children may eat them.
Explain to young children what medicine is for, and why it is dangerous to play with them.
Feeding Your Child Medicine:
If your child throws up the medicine you have given him or her, do not give extra medicine as it may cause an overdose.
