Who Gets Osteoporosis?
You have an increased risk of getting osteoporosis if you are:- Female
- 65 years of age or older
- Menopausal or have had your ovaries removed
- Small-built or have a slender body build
- A close relative to anyone suffering from osteoporosis
- Not consuming enough calcium in your diet
- Not having a proper nutrition intake
- Not exercising regularly
- A smoker
- Alcoholic or drinking excessive alcohol
- Using medicines such as corticosteroids, certain diuretics and blood-thinning medicines
