Warning signs of heart attack
Some heart attacks occur suddenly without any warnings, but most start slowly with mild pain, and one or more of the following symptoms can be experienced:- Chest discomfort
- Discomfort in other areas of the upper body
- Shortness of breath
- Breaking out a in cold sweat
- Nausea
- Lightheadedness
Warning signs of stroke
- Sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
- Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
Heart attack and stroke are life-and-death emergencies. If you see or have any of the listed symptoms, seek medical help or call for an ambulance immediately.
