Streamline your shopping trips
Aim to organize your schedule so that you do all your shopping in one trip each week. With a little careful planning, you can eliminate the need to shop every other day. "The more trips you make to the store, the more likely you are to buy impulse, fattening food on one of the trips," says Jeane Eddy Westin, author of The Thin Books.
It's a good idea to stick to the same store every time, too -- when you know your way around, you're less likely to grab that candy on impulse from the sales rack.
